Do you create your own reports to use again? Here are some tips for saving your report for optimization. iContracts templates adhere to these best practices.
Use Require Parameters in Viewer
A report will not run when you open it if you require parameters and save the report with blank values.
In the example below the report will not run if the first filter, Contract Ref ID, is blank.
The options are:
Require All Parameters in Viewer
Require At Least One Parameters in Viewer
Require The First Parameters in Viewer
Require The First Two Parameters in Viewer
For date fields that use the Filter In Time Period, save the report with the time period set to TODAY
Avoid saving your report with filters that populate a list of values for selection such as Equals (Autocomplete, Select, Multiple, Popup, or Checkboxes). Do save your report with filters that allow you to enter a value such as Equals, Equals (List), or Doesn’t Equal.
When you need to use the report again, you can use the Selection filters.
Extra tip: While you are developing your report in design mode, use Equals (Autocomplete, Select, Multiple, Popup, or Checkboxes) to select your default values, then change the filter type to Equals before saving and the selected values will be saved for the filter.
